Aston Martin history
Aston Martin history
The British Aston Martin brand was initially founded in 1913 under the name Bamford & Martin by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford. Attaching a four-cylinder engine to the chassis of another car, they would produce in 1915 his first car.
Due to successive changes of ownership, is in 1926 that the brand is baptized with its present name, being inspired by the race hill climb at Aston Clinton and founder Lionel Martin. The Aston Martin always bet on the competition, but due to a new crisis it would be forced to invest in cars for the road.
With the purchase of the brand in 1947 by David Brown The brand began producing cars with the initials DB and DB2 launched in 1950. But it was with the launch of the DB4 to reach the brand's reputation, it is cemented by the release of the famous Aston Martin DB5 in 1963.
The departure of Brown in the '70s marked the return of hard times. Aston Martin has gone through many difficult times constantly being bought, it would be re-purchased by Ford in 1993. Thanks to a major investment in innovation by Ford, Aston Martin begin a periodic rise and stability, during which it launched the Aston Martin Vanquish.
In 2005 Aston Martin returns to competition, creating for it a new division, Aston Martin Racing. Running with a DBR9 in GT racing and 24 hours of Le Mans.
