BEIJING — Volkswagen's Lamborghini brand, aiming to capitalize on China's growing affluence, has unveiled a special Murcielago LP670-4 SuperVeloce China Limited Edition here at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show.
Lamborghini boss Stephan Winkelmann said the arrival of the limited-edition model — only 10 copies will be produced for the Chinese market — demonstrates the brand's "unwavering commitment to China and the development of a super sports-car culture here."
Lamborghini recently opened its seventh dealership in China, where the brand's sales climbed 11 percent last year, to 89 vehicles. An eighth dealership will open soon in Xiamen.
The Murcielago LP670-4 SuperVeloce China Limited Edition features a matte gray paint scheme with an orange stripe. The car's 6.5-liter V12 puts out 670 horsepower, with a top speed in excess of 210 mph.
Each China Limited Edition model will come with a numbered badge with the owner's name.
